And as you know, Cerebrum, is, in its turn, part of a larger site titled "The Dana Web Site." The Dana Web Site is described by its editors as
the online home of the Dana Foundation, a philanthropy active in advancing knowledge of brain science, immunology, and arts education." The editors continue their description of the site with this invitation to the reader: "We invite you to visit the expanded Dana site, with additional news and information, new browsing and search tools, and other enhancements. While on the Dana Web site, be sure to read the Dana Press blog.I am now in the process of exploring "Cerebrum" to identify articles that might seem worthy of careful reading.
If either for you have already identified articles or links on the Cerebrum suite that you deem worthy of attention, put up a post for us to look at.
What happens next?
I will send Cindy our blog's web address and invite her to look around the Cerebrum site to find articles she thinks worthy of discussion. At the March 16th meeting of the TBI, why don't the three of us "round-table" briefly about articles, books, and electronic media on the "new brain," as some writers are dubbing the notably swift and expansive work in recent brain studies.
From there, it seems, we might beginning planning a program (of sorts) for future group meetings.
About the title of our blog:
The blog title at the moment is "About the Human Brain." We could add a few words to an already lengthy locution and announce that we are known collectively to be The About the Human Brain Discussion Club," and individually as a "Human Brain Clubber."
Another idea would be to take the catchphrase "no brainer," a slang term that describes an easy action, and transfer its meaning into a noun desribing a type of person, adding a positive denotation in the process, and thus achieve a nonce (newly invented) term to identify people like us, enthusiastic venturers into brain studies: "Yes Brainers," people who say "yes!" to following brain research. Too cute? Too forced? Too dumb? Think about who we are and codify your idea into a brief, memorable name.
Thus ends Posting #1 of the blog initially and currently titled "About the Human Brain."•
